KONA Was down for a few hours today. While at work I noticed that the server was down. Whether it was the shoutcast server itself or my computer, I didn’t know. When I arrived home I saw that my internet was still up and my 10 slot Icecast broadcast was still working. After consulting with my stream provider I simply toggled the encoder and the stream connected properly. I shrugged not knowing what caused the issue. The time came for me to pick up my child at school and I overheard one of the school employees talking about a nearby lightning strike. Seems a bolt of lightning struck between my house and the school ( we are 300 yards apart) at almost the same time my shoutcast stream disconnected. How a bolt of lightning could affect that I don’t know, but it is quite the coincidence.
